Hashishene

Hashishene is a cannabis terpene that is found in Moroccan hash and other hash varieties. hashishene's aroma is often described as earthy, woody, floral, and characterized by notes of pine, spices, or even citrus. Scientists believe that to obtain hashishene, a specific handling method of the buds is required.

This mysterious terpene, hashishene, is essentially a modified version of beta-myrcene, a common terpene found not only in cannabis but also in other plants like mangos, hops, bay, and barley. Both terpenes have the same number and type of atoms, but in hashishene, they are rearranged in a different pattern.

The reason why hashishene is present in hash but not in buds lies in the hash-making process. When a substance is absent in dried flowers but magically appears in the manufactured product, it indicates that a chemical present in the buds underwent a conversion during subsequent stages.

Research shows that this conversion occurs due to the unique hash production method employed by Moroccan weed farmers. These unique drying and sifting methods, combined with exposure to sunlight, potentially contribute to the conversion of myrcene into hashishene.

The presence of hashishene in hash emphasizes the intricate chemistry of cannabis and the potential variations in terpene profiles resulting from diverse cultivation and processing methods.
